Denomination News

Classis East is to meet this Wednesday, September 8, at 8:00 AM at Byron Center PRC. The agenda is very light. May God bless the deliberations and decisions.

Classis West met this past Wednesday in Hull, Iowa. The classis treated two matters which will now be forwarded to Synod 2011 for its final adjudication. The first was the overture of Faith PRC (Jenison, MI) to reorganize the denomination from two into three classes - a matter which Synod 2010 treated, but delayed making a final decision regarding until Classis West gave its judgment. Classis expressed its disapproval of this overture. The second was the request of Lynden (WA) PRC that the denomination provide financial support for Rev. R. Hanko's handicapped son, Neal, to live at the Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Center in the Grand Rapids area. This matter Classis also approved and forwarded to Synod. The classis approved the request of Covenant of Grace PRC (Spokane, WA) to solicit collections for its building fund from the churches of Classis West. One brother's appeal regarding his discipline was not upheld. Classis gave advice to two consistories which desire to proceed to the next step of censure with impenitent individuals; one consistory was advised to proceed, and the other not to proceed at this time. Classical appointments were given to Edgerton PRC and Cornerstone PRC (the latter to assist Classis East). May God bless the decisions made and be glorified in them.

Calls and Trios:

* Cornerstone (IN): Rev. A. Lanning (Faith) declined their call.

* Edgerton (MN): Candidate Dan Holstege is considering their call.

* Holland: Voted to extend a call to Candidate D. Holstege.

* Hope (Walker, MI): Voted to extend a call to Rev. C. Haak (Georgetown).

* Wingham: Voted to extend a call to Rev. C. Haak.

AM Doxology

Praise ye the Lord, ye hosts above in yonder heavenly height,

And bless the Lord, ye saints below, Who in His praise delight.

By all His creatures let His Name be honored and adored;

Let all that breathe, in praise unite to glorify the Lord.

May the grace of Christ our Savior and the Father’s boundless love

With the Holy Spirit’s favor rest upon us from above.
